Here’s how you can build an oven yourself in an hour, for as little as $15 dollars that will cook delicious meals using the sun’s power…even works on some cloudy days! Make it a family project……fun to build!

Makes any dish you can make in a normal oven….Makes mouth watering lasagna, stews, casseroles, apple cobbler……even bakes bread, cookies, and rolls.

Here’s what you will need to be a solar cook:

Kit Contains:
  • Do it yourself tracing pattern and detailed instructions

  • Glue for attaching foil to cardboard

  • Brush for applying glue

  • Clear plastic bag-re-usable to minimize heat loss (turkey bag)

You Supply

  • 3’ X 4’ scrap cardboard (best if in one solid piece BUT CAN BE TAPED TOGETHER)

  • 9’ of aluminum foil (Approx. 1/6th of a roll 14” wide)

  • Quarter roll of 3" clear strapping tape for reinforcement

  • A sharp cutting knife for cardboard

Here’s how you start……

  • Get a clean piece of cardboard and trace out our pattern on one side.

  • Cut out the pattern with a sharp razor knife..(Always cut away from your hands or legs.)

  • Put the 50/50 glue-water mix on the cardboard with a foam brush and apply the foil

  • Put some clear packing tape on the back side where the folds will be and score

  • Reinforce the edges with clear packing tape making sure to secure the foil down too.

  • The oven will be flat until you put the two wings into the slots and secure them with two clothespins or small clamps attached to the protruding wings on the underneath side.

  • Get a clear turkey bag or a larger drop cloth to put over your dark cooking pot and you are ready to start.

If your area is subject to winds or rain showers, cover the entire oven with a clear plastic sheet (inexpensive drop cloths available from Home Depot or Lowes) and weight down the two wings that are flush with the ground with two bricks or rocks to stabilize the oven.
