#2 The Bunch Passing Pattern:
You will see the actual pattern on the next page.  This pattern originated with the Cincinnati Bengals when Coach Bill Walsh was coaching the offense there during the late ‘70’s. Using three receivers bunched to one side, has spread even to the High School  level. Five years ago, one of the local youth coaches that had a great Pee Wee team asked me for advice on his pass game. He only ran the ball, and did it very well.

Opposing coaches, knowing this, loaded the box with 9 men and made it difficult for him to run when they got to the playoffs. I went to his practice and worked with his kids for several hours and put in some basic routes. The Bunch route was one of the patterns they learned. The team went on to win the state championship, and when they went to the national championship, they used the Bunch pattern I taught them to score the winning touchdown with 15 seconds to go.  The receiver was wide open and scored from the 25 yd. Line.
