Quarterback should put some upward pressure on the center’s butt so that the center knows where the Quarterback’s hands are.

The fifth step is to teach the basic 3 step crossover technique. Once a Quarterback  masters this footwork, you can teach him more advanced footwork, i.e. a 5step, Sprint out, and Boot action. You can position the Quarterback with his feet shoulder width apart, with a slight toe to instep stagger. Knees should be bent, though not too much. If you open to the right,  teach a right foot reach step with the toe pointed to approximately 4 o’clock, with 12 o’clock being the Quarterback’s nose when under the center.  The cross over step (left foot) should strive for as much depth as possible, while staying under good balance control.
