STEP 2 - DIY - Cut your 5/16 inch thread rod

DIY bike generator trainer stand, step 5 cutting the support bar

Step
a

Measure a length of 10.5 inches on your 5/16 -18 inch threaded bar.

b Make a distinct mark using a black permanent marker.
c Cut the bar using a hack saw - warning you must read the safety documentation that came with the hack saw to make sure you don't injure yourself.
d Remove the burrs at the end of the rod.  THESE are RAZOR SHARP and will cut you badly!!  Use a file or 100 grit sand paper to round off or "smooth" the end of the rod.  YOU MUST DO THIS, IT IS A SAFETY RISK.
